About me
Mr Aaron McAvoy is a Consultant Gynaecologist working at Worthing Hospital. He has a special interest in acute gynaecology, benign gynaecology, management of menstrual disorders and urogynaecology.
Mr McAvoy trained initially in Northern Ireland before moving to England in 2017 to complete his training by 2018, with advanced training modules in Gynaecology oncology and hysteroscopy. During his training he developed a broad range of experience in benign gynaecology and advanced minimal access surgery. He runs a weekly clinic in hysteroscopy specialising in the management of endometrial abnormalities and treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding, as well as the assessment of women with suspected cancer.
He participates in weekly multidisciplinary meetings working in conjunction with colleagues in urology and physiotherapy in order to help to decide best care for women with pelvic floor dysfunction including incontinence and prolapse often working with consultant colleagues to get the best possible treatment outcomes for his patients.
He uses minimal access laparoscopic techniques to treat other gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis, and ovarian pathology such as ovarian cysts and performs advanced laparoscopic surgeries such as total laparoscopic hysterectomy for treatment of benign conditions as well as vaginal surgeries to minimise the recovery time after operations.
Mr McAvoy is happy to treat a broad range of gynaecological conditions such as pelvic pain, menstrual disorders, fibroids, polyps, prolapse, menopause, sexual dysfunction, post-menopausal bleeding, ovulatory disorders with a particular interest in pelvic floor dysfunction.
