About me

Miss Kerr was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist at Northampton General Hospital in 2001. She trained at the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion in Edinburgh and at the Royal University Hospitals, Liverpool as SHO and Registrar respectively. From there, she went on to do a clinical Fellowship in cornea and external eye disease and refractive surgery at the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. Miss Kerr set up and led the specialist corneal service at Northampton General Hospital for 18 years. The corneal service was commissioned by the Specialist Commissioners to provide collagen cross linking, INTACS and lamellar corneal grafts at Northampton General Hospital.

Miss Kerr retired from the NHS and Northampton General Hospital on 30 October 2018 and is now solely in independent practice at Ramsay Woodland Hospital and Ramsay Blakelands Hospital.

Miss Kerr’s subspecialty interest in cornea and external eye disease includes the medical management of keratoconus, herpetic eye disease as well as the treatment of dry eye, blepharitis and other external lid conditions. Miss Kerr also performs the collagen cross-linking (C 3R) procedure which is used to treat the early stages of keratoconus and reduce progression of corneal thinning.

Miss Kerr’s other main interest is in refractive cataract surgery and she is able to offer the most suitable and personalised vision correction procedure to nearly all patients who would like this. This includes toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal lens implants to correct distance and near vision as part of cataract surgery.
