Dr. James Howard is a Consultant Cardiologist and Clinical Academic who believes that the best patient care combines technical excellence with collaborative, patient-centred decision making.. He holds a prestigious British Heart Foundation Intermediate Fellowship at Imperial College London and treats patients at OneWelbeck, Hammersmith Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital.

Unusually for a medical consultant, Dr. Howard is also an accomplished computer scientist and AI expert. He does not just use advanced medical technology; he builds it. He has developed AI software to make Cardiac MRI scans faster and more accurate. These innovations that are now improving patient care in hospitals across London. His technical brilliance was recognized globally when he was awarded a $40,000 prize by Facebook and Microsoft for his work in Artificial Intelligence.

Dr. Howard is perhaps best known for leading the famous SAMSON Trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine. This study investigated the complex relationship between statins and side effects. It fundamentally changed how doctors discuss medication with patients, highlighting Dr. Howard's commitment to listening to his patients' experiences and working in partnership with them to manage their health comfortably.
