About me

Dr. James Howard is a Consultant Cardiologist at OneWelbeck and Hammersmith Hospital, and a World-Renowned Academic at Imperial College London. His clinical and academic career combines cutting-edge research with compassionate patient care. Dr. Howard is an internationally recognised expert in cardiac imaging, particularly cardiac MRI, and has spearheaded the development of innovative MRI sequences now used across multiple centres in London. To date, he has secured over �1 million in research funding, reflecting his leadership and impact in the field.

In addition to his subspecialty in cardiac imaging, Dr. Howard is adept at diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions, including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, leg swelling, heart valve problems, and cardiovascular risk assessment.

Dr. Howard understands the critical importance of getting the basics of cardiovascular health right, such as blood pressure and cholesterol management. He published the elegant and world-renowned SAMSON Trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which investigated the causes of statin side effects and has significantly influenced how clinicians approach this common issue.
