About me
Hi, my name is Kellie and I am a Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist and accredited CBT practitioner with extensive experience working across the lifespan.
I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Oxford, having previously worked in acute adult mental health and early intervention in psychosis services. Since qualifying in 2019, I have worked in the NHS in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), including Learning Disability CAMHS, gaining specialist knowledge of assessment and intervention for children, young people, and their families. I now work exclusively in private practice alongside a lecturer role for children and young people's mental health trainings in the North East.
I have worked with people of all ages presenting with a wide variety of difficulties including anxiety, low mood, OCD, PTSD, and psychosis, among others. I have a particular interest in working with people across the lifespan who have experienced ongoing trauma, helping them to process the impact that these experiences have had on their sense of self, including their identity, feelings of shame, and self-criticism.
I am also experienced in working with neurodivergent individuals and adapting therapy to make it accessible. I help individuals understand and thrive with their diagnosis, as well as considering ways in which a person's neurodivergence may be uniquely interacting with their mental health.
My therapeutic approach primarily draws on second and third wave models of CBT, including Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, whilst integrating systemic ideas to build a rich understanding of the factors impacting on an individual's wellbeing.
I work collaboratively to develop a shared understanding of a person's difficulties and an intervention plan that is meaningful to them. I love to learn about the strengths and interests of the people I work with and I use these to make therapy more accessible and personal.
I know it can feel challenging trying to find the right therapist and approach for you. If you think that we might be a good match, we can have a no obligation phone call to explore what you would like support with and whether I feel like the right fit for you.
