About me

Mr Ross Kenny is a consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with his NHS practice based at Worthing Hospital, part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. He is on the GMC specialist register and is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Ross completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Nottingham in 2013, receiving a national British Medical Association award in 2011 for research. He undertook foundation training in South Thames deanery, before starting his surgical training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex region. He was successful at achieving a national higher surgical training number at the first attempt, completing surgical rotations across the south-east of England.

Aside from his passion for surgical excellence, Ross enjoys teaching and formalised this with a Master's degree in Medical Education from the University of South Wales achieved in 2023 with a distinction awarded. He has authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals focusing on the topics of breast cancer and cosmetic breast surgery. Furthermore, he has contributed chapters to textbooks dedicated to breast surgery.

Ross specialises in the treatment of breast disease including benign conditions, breast cancer and advanced reconstructive techniques to the breast.

On a personal note, Ross enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two children, playing chess and scuba-diving.

Areas of interest

Management of benign Breast conditions including benign Breast lumps, nipple discharge and management of Breast pain;

Breast cancer treatment;

Breast conserving surgery - wide local excision or 'lumpectomy';

Partial Breast reconstruction using chest wall perforator flaps (LICAP, LTAP, MICAP, AICAP), a technique used in larger tumours to reconstruct the Breast at the same time tumour is resected and avoiding a mastectomy;

Therapeutic mammoplasty or removing Breast tumour and reducing size of Breast while preserving the shape of Breast;

Mastectomy and Breast reconstruction using silicone implants or with using patient's own tissue, most of the time from the abdomen which is being done together with a plastic surgeon. Breast reconstructions can be done as immediate or delayed;

Breast reduction for symptomatic macromastia;
