About me

I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and worked as a CBT therapist in an NHS talking therapies service for eight years. Prior to this I worked for twenty years, in a variety of mental health settings, as a State Registered Occupational Therapist (O.T.). I therefore have a broad experience and understanding of working with clients experiencing a wide variety of challenges.

I like the practicality of CBT. I like the questions it asks us to consider:

"what is the problem/difficulty that I am experiencing (this is not always clear cut)?",
"how has this problem/difficulty developed?",
"what is keeping this difficulty going?,
"how would I know that things are getting better - what would this look like?",
"what changes might be possible to make to support a positive change in the way that I feel?"

I like the opportunity CBT provides to explore what is impacting on the way we feel. With this understanding, options can then be considered in relation to what changes are possible and might be helpful to make.

Throughout treatment we will work collaboratively to develop an understanding of the difficulties that you are experiencing, regularly reviewing the helpfulness of the change strategies that are being considered and employed.
