About me
Having worked in the NHS for 14 years supporting people with a wide range of physical and emotional issues, I decided to focus on working in mental health. I retrained as a psychotherapist and have since worked within Brighton and Hove with adults over the age of 18 and as a university counsellor with both young adults and mature students.
I offer both long-term and short-term focussed therapy.
My intial training was in psychodynamic therapy. This approach looks at how an individual's upbringing and past experiences can influence their perspective upon current events.
I also have trained in the psycho-educative elements of CBT, which I find very useful in empowering those with high leves of anxiety to manage their daily lives. To this I have added elements from the practice of mindfulness. The final strand to my work is looking at the individual froma sytemic point of view. This can be an invaluable way of making sense of transtion points in life, such as leaving home, retirement and the empty nest.
As well as working as a therapist,I have trained in supervising my colleagues work. I curently supervise both trainees and quailfied therapists.
