About me
I ran a busy brain and spine neurosurgical practice after completing neurosurgical training in 2012, but and have focussed on complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery since 2017. I was appointed as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Addenbrooke's in 2019 after completing a joint neurosurgical and orthopaedic spinal fellowship.
Minimally invasive ('keyhole') surgical techniques are employed in the majority of the operations I perform for disc prolapse and spinal stenosis, and introduced full endoscopic spinal surgery in Cambridge as an extension of these principles. These techniques deliver the same surgical results with the least possible trauma to surrounding tissues.
I specialise in the treatment of neck pain, back pain, arm pain, leg pain, trauma, tumours and syringomyelia, and also have a special interest in the neurosurgical management of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH).
I am also directly involved in neurosurgical training at both undergraduate (serving as speciality lead for Neurosurgical teaching) and postgraduate levels. I am the lead for Spinal services at Addenbrooke's, and was appointed clinical lead for the East of England Spinal Network in 2023.
