Keir Lewis is a specialist Respiratory Consultant renowned for his compassionate and patient-focused approach. He oversees specialist clinics in 3 NHS hospitals and 2 private clinics. Patients travel from over South & West Wales to see him.
Professor Lewis has been an NHS Consultant since 2003 & was appointed a Full-Professor at Swansea University in 2017.
Professor Lewis can see patients directly who are self-paying or using insurance. Patients do not need a referral from another specialist or GP.
He brings an unparalleled level of expertise, backed by his international reputation, often consulted by other specialists for complex cases. His training includes a degree in Psychology (1st class), enhancing his thoughtful and holistic approach to patient care. Patients appreciate his gentle, compassionate approach, particularly those who suffer high levels of anxiety or depression related to their breathing issues.
He collaborates closely with top researchers to bring patients innovative treatments and state-of-the-art approaches before they are routinely available. Professor Lewis has published more than 190 journal articles, over 300 abstracts and 4 textbooks. He has been the leading or co-applicant on grants worth over �27M. He advises the British and European Respiratory Society Conferences, the Welcome Foundation, MRC and Tenovus. He has advised Welsh and Westminster Governments on Smoking and Vaping and more recently their COVID enquiries.
