About me
Dr Vinay Parmar is a Consultant Musculoskeletal (MSK) Radiologist with his private practice locations based at several hospitals in Lancashire. His practice is to help you and your surgeon understand what is wrong so that your surgeon can look into what can be done about it.
He performs ultrasound guided injections into tendons, bursa and joints as well as soft tissue aspirations and biopsies. He also performs specialist injections such as hydrodilatation of the shoulder, barbotage of tendon calcification, Morton's neuroma injections, plantar fascia injections, coccyx injections, soft tissue biopsies, and injections of nerves / nerve root injections. He performs and reports a full range of specialist dynamic MSK and general ultrasound including vast experience in soft tissue ultrasounds of lumps, joints, nerve imaging, muscle imaging and hernias. He reports a full range of MSK X-rays, CT and MRI imaging including arthrograms, imaging of soft tissue and bony lumps, and specialist imaging of the spine, including those MRI scans with contrast. He routinely reports scans of the spine, shoulder, knee, elbow, wrist, ankle, feet, He has strong relationships with many specialists across Lancashire and supporting their specialist MSK imaging needs.
Dr Parmar graduated from Leicester Medical School, where he also gained a 1st class honours degree in orthopaedic / MSK imaging and has a number of prizes, publications and international presentations.
He then gained a position on the academic foundation programme at South Manchester Hospital, which included further research in MSK MRI imaging. Subsequently, he completed core radiology training within the Nottingham radiology training programme, and specialist MSK radiology fellowship training in Liverpool and Southampton. He was also awarded the postgraduate diploma from the European Society of Skeletal Radiology.
Dr Parmar was appointed as an MSK Radiology Consultant at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2014, a position he held for over 10 years, supporting the regional spinal surgery service, sarcoma (lumps and bumps) service, regional plastic surgery service, and major trauma service. In addition to private practice, he holds the position as a Consultant Radiologist for several teleradiology companies where he supports numerous NHS Trusts across the UK with their routine and urgent imaging needs.
Dr Parmar has 3 small children, and alongside his busy practice, is a Royal Air Force Flying Scholar, and an experienced instrumented pilot, regularly flying across the British Isles and Europe.
