About me

Mel Goldman
Initial contact: melgoldmancbt@gmail.com

Qualifications:
Accredited initially in 2002 with the British Association of Psychotherapy & Counselling (BACP) and as of 2012, accredited with the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). MA with Distinction - Psychoanalytic Studies (Tavistock Centre/University of London 1998)

Mode of Treatment Delivery:
I provide a solely digital practice which allows me to treat clients nationwide - referred via employers, insurance companies, the NHS or self-referral.

My approach:
I am practiced in a variety of different models of therapy but specialise in particular in a form of treatment called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is aimed at helping people disentangle from anxiety, panic, prolonged worry & other forms of distress impacting on their quality of life. We will explore the triggers and current coping strategies that can inadvertently become obstacles to wellbeing and improved resilience in the face of challenging life circumstances.

My work is about helping my clients become curious about what may be happening to them and together find ways to develop new strategies and fresh perspectives that quickly help them to become less consumed and compromised by fear, sadness, stress, anger, grief, burnout and other painful states of being. I really want my clients to feel skilled up to take over from me in becoming their own best supporter and therapist once treatment comes to an end so that they don't feel reliant on it to keep the good stuff going. By the end of treatment you should have built up a useful library of resources sent to you throughout the process.

Experience: I am highly experienced in corporate settings, NHS, private practice and providing supervision to other practitioners. I hope you will find in me a warm, empathic and highly interactive sounding-board for any issue that links with the areas highlighted on my profile.

Areas of interest

I treat anyone 18+ experiencing struggles in the following areas:

Anxiety (all types: agoraphobia; excessive worry; fear of death/dying; health anxiety; OCD, panic; phobias; social anxiety;)

Issues relating to sense of self: dissatisfaction; fear of failure; imposter syndrome; life-stage issues; low self-esteem; perfectionism; self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviours.

Mood problems: depression and low mood; anger; grief and loss; overthinking and rumination; work-related difficulties; loneliness; relationship problems.

Approaches to these issues will vary depending on the needs of each client but will typically include an integrated approach from a variety of evidence-based models, creating a rich pool of insights and strategies that can help a person generate their own creative solutions to significantly enhance their quality of life.
