About me

About me
I am BACP accredited counsellor / psychotherapist based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

I aim to provide a safe, confidential space to enable us to together to explore what has brought you to counselling.

I work in an integrative way, meaning the way I work is flexible, depending on you; you are in the driving seat of therapy.

My experience is varied, having worked with a diverse range of clients in a number of different settings including educational establishments, bereavement charities, hospice and general counselling. I have worked with adults and young people with feelings that include depression, loneliness, grief, loss, not belonging, trauma, isolation, anxiety, hopelessness, suicidality and anger.

I believe the relationships between client and therapist is crucial, attending one session is not a commitment to long-term therapy, we can discuss your difficulties in more detail and decide together if I can provide what you need.

Training, qualifications & experience
I worked in local government for a number of years, having a background in law enforcement. In this time I worked as both an officer and a manager, latterly responsible for promoting the wellbeing of colleagues at all levels of the organisation. At this time I gained experience in supporting people experiencing work-related stress.

Since retraining as a counsellor / psychotherapist I gained experience in both short-term and long-term counselling. I have worked as a counsellor at a university and college, a bereavement charity, hospice, general counselling charity, Employee Assistance Programmes and privately.

For many years I have worked on a helpline and assisted with face-to-face group work with both individuals and families bereaved by suicide.

More recently I have taken on a teaching role, teaching trainee counsellors to gain their practice qualification.
