About me
Hello.
Thank you for looking at my details. I value people and the opportunity to be with them as they negotiate difficult, stressful times. This may include feeling sad, suffering from anxiety, depression, relationship or family issues. We can approach these together to help you to feel stronger and more confident about facing and having to deal with them.
I offer a safe, caring, space to open up your box of emotions and issues and let them be seen, heard and then healed.
My way of being, with you - my client
We all know what it's like to NOT be listened to. This is especially upsetting when we are struggling emotionally and mentally. Times when we are trying to express ourselves and explain what's going on for us and how we feel but people, or a person, just don't seem to accept, acknowledge or understand what we are saying (or trying to say). It might be that you just can't talk to people around you but feel like you need to voice your frustrations, anger, upset or other things on your mind but without these causing problems for those close to you.
Having someone listen to you, really listen, because they have no agenda to push of their own, because they aren't judging you for being anything other than a human being, listening with a depth of consideration and understanding because they really want you to know that you and your feelings are very important.
My way of counselling is to be the person who provides all this for you, in a 'person centred' way.
I offer to you an ear, a caring, empathic voice, a safe and confidential place for you to unload, shed your fears, be silent if you wish, say the things you keep inside.
How does counselling help?
You may be thinking: what can this do to help? I believe it lets you have time to unravel your thoughts, gives you a person to walk alongside you, not dragging you at their pace but staying with you to make some sense of your feelings.
Above all, I will accept you for who you are with no judgements or opinions and believe in your ability to work out your own needs and how to achieve them.
This is how I 'do' counselling with you.
I know how daunting it can be to contact someone for the first time, so let me reassure you. Here's how we could start our contact,
- contact me on my mobile number, 07365 109383, by calling or texting.
- Alternatively, if you prefer to send me an email, please do and let me know if you'd like me to email you back or if you would like a call, just include your telephone number and what time/day is best to call you.
(I wouldn't call you first without sending you a text, if you give me a mobile number. Therefore, if you have an urgent need to speak, please feel free to ring me)
================================
I practice from my home, which is a quiet, open, rural environment, away from the fast pace and noise of everyday people and life.
I am also able to help you by telephone or video counselling. Please let me know if you would prefer either of these methods.
My counselling room is on the ground floor with ramp access and toilet facilities easily accessible by wheelchair or if using other aids.
I have 3 border collies here. They love to be with people and are very gentle and friendly. However, if you do not want to meet them, they won't mind, and I will make sure they aren't around when you come along and that they don't disturb us.
If you would like to spend session time walking around the field and in the wood, we have here, with or without the dogs, that would be lovely, just bring your wellies if it's wet!
I offer you the language of feeling, kindness, openness and self honesty and hope that you feel comfortable and able to share these also with me.
Thank you for reading this information about me and my counselling practice.
