About me

I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon based in Derby, with more than 30 years of experience in medicine and specialist expertise in urology. I trained in London before completing my specialist urology training in the East Midlands, and I have been working as a consultant since 2003. I currently practise at the Royal Derby Hospital and Nuffield Health Derby Hospital.

Throughout my career, I have combined clinical practice with research and innovation. My work has included research into prostate cancer, assessing clinical skills, supervising PhD students, and exploring how technology and decision-support systems can improve patient care.

I have a particular interest in male fertility problems and microsurgery, including vasectomy reversal, Micro-TESE procedures, and the treatment of varicoceles. I also manage a wide range of urological conditions, including kidney stones, prostate problems, urinary symptoms, scrotal conditions, and urological cancers.

I believe that good healthcare starts with clear communication. I take time to listen to my patients, help them understand their condition, and involve them in decisions about their treatment. My aim is always to provide professional, compassionate care and achieve the best possible outcome for each individual. I therefore have appointments that are 25% longer than the typical urological outpatient appointment.
