About me
Life happens. And as much as we would prefer to continue our journey on the pursuit of happiness or success, we often fall short of these goals. Our blueprint for life doesn't always go to plan. Usually, it's through no fault of our own. We try as hard as we can to help ourselves through the pain but sometimes these strategies become unworkable too. Does it ever feel this way for you?
I have dedicated my career to helping people move in a direction that is meaningful to them. Whether it's because of ill health, work-related stress, low mood, anxiety, grief, anger, relationship problems and so on, your unwanted thoughts, feelings and unworkable behaviours can leave you feeling stuck.
I am an experienced psychologist working 15 years within the NHS. My style is down-to-earth, jargon-free and individualised to your unique set of circumstances. I draw on a variety of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness.
I have worked with many different individuals, including those experiencing mental and physical health conditions. My previous roles have included delivering a range of therapies within the NHS, from within multi-disciplinary community mental health teams for complex mental health problems (working jointly with a range of professionals; Psychiatrists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists) to managing Pain Management Programmes in Clinical Health Psychology settings.
I am currently focussing on helping individuals with mild to moderate mental health difficulties (such as anxiety, stress and depression) as well as those who experience persistent physical health symptoms (such as pain, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia). If you are ready to look at your problem from a fresh perspective, I can help you let go of what no longer works for you so you can return to a life that you value. Clients who work with me often learn how to open up to life's challenges with confidence and flexibility.
Please do get in touch if you would like me to work alongside you. I am able to offer remote (online) and face-to-face sessions in my purpose-built therapy room.
Areas of interest
I specialise in a collection of cognitive behavioural therapies which seek to help a person open up to unwanted thoughts, feelings and emotions. By promoting staying present and changing avoidance-based behaviours when they become unworkable, you can start to move in a direction that is meaningful to you.
