About me
I have been interested in the healing process for many years and originally trained as a clinical reflexologist in 2001. For 15 years, I worked for South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust London as a complementary therapist offering regular wellbeing events.
I have worked in a variety of settings offering counselling and psychotherapy for many different conditions. I have learned from every person I have been privileged to work with, and use this knowledge and experience to develop better understanding.
For the past few years I have been offering short and long-term therapy with The Mulberry Centre, Kingston Women's Centre and Kingston iCope, NHS Psychological Therapies Service. I have worked both as an Anxiety UK approved therapist trained to work with anxiety disorders, and a Specialist Mentor for university students for over three years.
Having a Master's degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy means I have the knowledge to draw on the many models of psychotherapy that have become popular in treatment today. I seek to put the individual client first and foremost, whilst also being able to draw on a number of different approaches, including psychodynamic, humanistic, existential and relational. I use cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) whenever it is appropriate and I have continued to update my knowledge ever since.
I take a holistic approach to fit with the unique, individual needs and experiences of each client. I am trauma-informed and my special interest and ongoing study is on the subject of the mind-body connection, considering how our minds and bodies converge in the healing of trauma, particularly through using the body as a resource in psychotherapy, and completed further training in Integrative Embodied Psychotherapy in 2023.
