Research interests
Translational and Clinical Research
I have experience in translational and clinical research for colorectal cancer, in particular innovative diagnostic methods such as 3D Endorectal Ultrasound and the 1H-MRI spectroscopy to improve the staging of rectal cancer and to guide sphincter saving surgery, organ preserving surgery and Watch & Wait strategy. I also investigated the rectal cancer growth and lymph nodes metastases after inoculation of human cells HT-29 in athymic mice.
Genetics and Molecular Research
I am the principal investigator of Recare project (Watch-and-wait after chemoradiotherapy in patients with rectal cancer: biomarkers to predict response and improve safety).
I was responsible for the tissue bank of colorectal cancer at the Verona University Hospital.
