About me
I am a consultant transplant and general surgeon practicing at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Shawfair Park Hospital. My primary clinical interests are liver transplantation, management of complex gallstone disease, hernia surgery and advanced endoscopy (ERCP).
Alongside my clinical practice, I am currently the clinical lead for the Edinburgh National Organ Retrieval Service, Chair of the UK NORS Clinical Leads' Forum, Lead Educational Supervisor for transplant surgery training in Edinburgh and Programme Lead for the Edinburgh Transplant Surgery Fellowship.
My research has been recognised by a number of awards including the the Hunterian Lectureship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Sir Roy Calne Award from the British Transplantation Society, the Professor Kenneth Fearon Memorial Medal, the Chiene Medal, the Syme Medal (for surgical research, University of Edinburgh) and the Ker Memorial Prize (for infectious diseases research, University of Edinburgh).
Areas of interest
ERCP (advanced endoscopy); gallstone disease; laparoscopic cholecystectomy (keyhole removal of gallbladder); management of CBD / ductal gallstones; hernia surgery.
