About me
Throughout my career, I've been passionate about supporting people through growth, change, and healing. With over 30 years of experience working both as a psychotherapist and a Nurse Case Manager, I bring a deep and integrated understanding of mental, emotional, and physical well-being. My background includes extensive work in a range of healthcare settings including mental health, psychiatric care, and complex case management.
I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches to meet each client's unique needs. My practice incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, and person-centred approaches, allowing for a flexible and tailored therapeutic experience.
I work with individuals experiencing a wide spectrum of emotional and psychological challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, life transitions, and complex mental health disorders. This may include conditions such as personality disorders, PTSD, dissociation, and long-standing emotional difficulties that impact daily functioning and relationships.
I understand how anxiety can show up in many forms from persistent worry and overthinking to physical symptoms that disrupt daily life. Depression can feel isolating and heavy, often accompanied by emotional numbness, hopelessness, or fatigue. My approach helps clients explore the root of these experiences, build self-understanding, and develop practical strategies for change.
I also work sensitively with trauma, recognising how unresolved experiences can shape the way people see themselves and relate to the world. I provide a safe and supportive space where clients can begin to process these experiences, find stability, and reconnect with their inner strengths.
In addition to my clinical work, I have specialist experience supporting individuals and families affected by brain and catastrophic injuries, including through my work with the brain injury charity Headway. This has further shaped my understanding of trauma, sudden life change, and long-term adjustment.
My qualifications align with Column C of the SCoPEd (Scope of Practice and Education) framework representing the highest level of training and experience recognised by the UK's major professional counselling and psychotherapy bodies.
I am committed to a client-centred, ethical, and empowering approach that supports individuals in making informed choices and moving toward lasting emotional well-being. I work in accordance with the BACP's professional standards and hold a current, clear DBS check.
Outside of the therapy room, I'm also a certified SCUBA diving instructor. I believe deeply in the healing power of water and am currently researching how therapeutic practice can be enriched through nature-based and ocean-focused approaches whether in or near the sea.
