About me

I am a HCPC registered chartered Clinical Psychologist, working both within the NHS in adult community mental health settings and Private Practice. I have experience of working psychologically with clients across the lifespan and have a specialist interest in working with complex trauma, feelings of shame/self criticism, anxiety and emotion regulation difficulties.

I primarily work using the following therapeutic approaches:

- Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
- Somatic based therapy
- Eye movement desensitiation reprocessing (EMDR)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

However I utilise aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and psychodynamic therapy where helpful.

I centre my therapy on initially helping you to explore and make sense of your story, understanding what has got you to where you are and what has kept you stuck. I particularly focus on how the body often holds emotions and any past traumas, and therefore focus on recognising any disconnect between the mind and body. In order to successfully achieve this, I centre my practice on the therapeutic relationship, believing in the importance of human connection and seeing people as more than the difficulties than they are experiencing. With that being said, I recognise that reaching out for support takes courage and strength and time is needed to build a safe connection. I value my practice as being paced to the individuals needs and wants, having a sense of openness and warmth and a joint understanding of your difficulties and our journey together.

My qualifications include:

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University of Birmingham

- Postgraduate Masters in Research in Clinical Psychology at the University of Birmingham

- BSc Hons in Psychology at the University of Bath
