About me
Hi, I'm Ronit a BACP Accredited Integrative counsellor, with over 15 years of experience; working privately, and supporting local charities. I also have experience within a high school setting; age ranges from 11 to 18, where I set up and delivered counselling service for the school. Along with this I have over 8 years experience working as an IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) counsellor for the NHS, now known as Talking Therapies.
My approach is fully inclusive, non judgemental, down to earth, honest and friendly. I believe in working collaboratively with you, listening to you, acting as your guide on your therapeutic journey, in a private space that is just yours away from the pull of the busy world we live in.
Do you feel stuck or overwhelmed? Are you going through change or loss? At some point life can be and can feel extremely challenging. My aim is to help you navigate through those challenges and make sense of them. The ultimate aim being to help you recognise your own strengths and abilities, to help equip you with some new skills or ways of thinking; allowing you to grow in confidence and move forward, along with supporting you accept loss or change which maybe holding you back. I provide a space where you can and will be heard, and more importantly where you are able to really express yourself. When we are challenged we can feel a disconnect, between mind (thoughts) and body (feelings), a Dis-Ease essentially. Through our sessions, I hope to be able to help you identify any dis-ease, to find a way to reconnect, and to find that intuitive connection we all have. For this, I tailor my approach to you, the individual working to meet your needs and what you bring to sessions.
As an Integrative counsellor I utilise Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioural, Psychodynamic, Transactional analysis, Emotion Focused and Polyvagal informed models. By using different elements from these models it helps me to tailor my therapeutic approach to you. This allows me to provide a holistic approach targeting both Psychological/neurological and somatic processes to help support mind and body. Some times talking can be difficult, when this is the case I will use a variety of tools or methods to help you express and explore. For example; drawing, writing and even listening or watching short video clips. All of this is to help facilitate change for you to live rather than struggle or even just exist.
To also enable change; I try to make my environment as welcoming and comfortable as possible, I have a little rescue dog (Robson) who comes in to work with me. I find this can really help change the environment making it feel more relaxed, warm and caring rather than clinical. I have also found that when it may feel difficult to make eye contact Robson helps to provide a focal point allowing us to work freely and enabling me to help support you through those difficult moments.
I offer In person (face to face) , Online and Telephone sessions (which I have completed additional training and be awarded certification for).
Therapy can be either short or long term dependent on you, the individual and what you would like to or need to bring to therapy. I sometimes find that as we embark in therapy those needs, goals may change and I will work with you to ensure we work on what you want/need at that time.
