About me

Dr Katarzyna Malaczynska-Rajpold is a renowned consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist specialising in cardiac electrophysiology and implantable devices. She has extensive experience treating various heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, premature ventricular contractions, and atrioventricular block, among others.

Dr Malaczynska-Rajpold performs a wide range of procedures to address these conditions, such as catheter ablations and the implantation of devices like pacemakers and defibrillators, including the newest technologies. Her expertise allows her to treat symptoms commonly associated with arrhythmias, including palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, fainting, and transient loss of consciousness (syncope).

She earned her medical degree and completed her cardiology training in Poznan, Poland, with an initial focus on pulmonary circulation. Her interests later shifted towards cardiac arrhythmias during her PhD research, which examined three-dimensional reconstructions of post-infarction scar as a substrate for ventricular tachycardia. This research ignited her passion for cardiac electrophysiology, leading her to further specialise in this field at Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

Since 2022, Dr Malaczynska-Rajpold has served as a locum consultant electrophysiologist at Royal Brompton Hospital, and since 2023, she has held a joint consultant position at Royal Brompton Hospital and Lister Hospital in Stevenage. Beyond her clinical practice, she is actively involved in the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA), having served as the chair of the Young EP Committee and a member of the EHRA Board in 2020-2024, she has now moved to co-chair the National Cardiac Societies Committee at EHRA.
