About me

Hi, I'm Jamie...

I would love to be part of your support system. Having someone next to you on your healing journey is so important - you are not alone and don't have to suffer in silence. I am passionate about providing a calm, gentle and patient relationship for all my clients.

I deeply care about the well-being of everyone I work with. I have met people from all walks of life, everyone is welcome and I want to hear your story. You deserve a space without judgment to be seen and heard.

I draw on several theories of change to help you get to where you want to be. My priority is to develop our working relationship so you feel safe; we have all the time we need to build that foundational trust. Although we may be working with deep feelings, counselling can be a really fun and enlightening experience.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand what it's like to feel different from 'normal' and work with clients empathetically and non-judgmentally, believing that our differences are what make us all unique and beautiful.

I'm passionate about helping people heal from their childhood traumas, increasing self-confidence, and strengthening the relationships you have with yourself and with others. I work well with people who aim to be kinder to themselves and are curious about healthier boundaries.

I'm dedicated and experienced in providing support to individuals from marginalised populations and those affected by loss. Through the practice of self-compassion and self-nurturing, I aim to enhance self-worth and self-acceptance while also enabling others to experience less fear and anxiety about painful emotions. Being connected to someone during your healing process is essential because it makes you feel less alone and isolated.

As an integrated therapist, there isn't just one therapy strategy that can benefit a client in every circumstance. Instead, I consider you as a unique individual, using aspects of several approaches to support you in your exploration and problem-solving.

The person-centred approach is at the core of my work, offering empathy, understanding, and acceptance. I also integrate psychodynamic and transactional analysis theories into my practice by acknowledging the importance of the past and patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaviour in the present moment.

How does it work?

I work both online using Microsoft Teams from my private working space and face-to-face in St Ann's Square in Manchester City Centre. I offer a 15-minute introduction via Microsoft Teams, where we can talk about what brings you to counselling and see if we think we'd work well together, or if you feel confident about working with me already, we could skip that bit and look at availability.

My first session

The first session would entail your assessment and further exploration of what has brought you here. You can ask more questions, and we can explore goals you want to work towards in therapy. By the end of the first session, you will have a feel for what it would be like to work with me and know if we are a good match.
