About me
Hello, I'm Jamie a BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Counsellor.
I provide a calm, safe, and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Having someone alongside you on your healing journey is so important you are not alone, and you don't have to face things in silence.
I'm passionate about helping people understand themselves more deeply and develop self-compassion, self-confidence, and healthier relationships. I work with clients experiencing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, loss, and the effects of trauma or emotional neglect.
My approach is integrative, meaning I tailor therapy to each person's individual needs. At the heart of my work is the person-centred approach, offering empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. I also draw on psychodynamic and transactional analysis theories to explore how past experiences and patterns may influence present thoughts, emotions, and relationships.
I believe that a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for change. My priority is to create a space where you feel understood, accepted, and safe to express whatever you need to bring. Although therapy can involve working through painful feelings, it can also be a space for clarity, self-awareness, and growth.
As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand what it can feel like to be different from what society calls normal. I offer an inclusive, affirming, and non-judgmental space for all clients, regardless of gender identity, sexuality, background, or belief.
I have a particular interest in helping people heal from childhood trauma, attachment wounds, and relationship difficulties. I also work with those exploring identity, boundaries, and self-worth, or seeking to live more authentically and with greater self-acceptance. My aim is to help you build resilience, increase emotional awareness, and develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with yourself.
Through therapy, many clients find they can make sense of their experiences, process unresolved emotions, and move forward with a greater sense of balance and confidence. My role is to walk alongside you with warmth, curiosity, and understanding as you navigate that journey.
Availability
I offer both online sessions via Microsoft Teams (from my private workspace) and face-to-face sessions in St Ann's Square, Manchester City Centre.
Sessions are 60 minutes in length and can be arranged weekly or fortnightly.
I am currently available Tuesday to Friday, mornings through evenings.
Getting started
I offer a free 15-minute introduction via Microsoft Teams to discuss what brings you to counselling, answer questions, and see whether we feel like a good fit. If you're ready to begin, we can skip the introduction and arrange your first session directly.
Your first session
Our first full session will be an opportunity to talk about what you'd like from counselling and what feels most important to focus on. By the end, you'll have a sense of how I work and whether it feels right for you. There's no obligation to continue what matters most is that you feel comfortable and confident in your choice.
