About me
My name is Beth and I'm a UKCP registered Gestalt Psychotherapist. I'm experienced in and enjoy working with adult clients of all ages and at various stages of life on a short, medium and long-term basis. I provide assessment and therapeutic intervention for a range of issues, including working with adults who have lived through complex childhood trauma, particularly childhood sexual abuse, and sexual violence.
As a Gestalt Psychotherapist, I use a relational approach with clients and I'm curious about what happens with clients in the here-and-now. My approach is multi-faceted and responsive to each client, and may include equipping clients with strategies to alleviate symptoms, psychoeducation, reflection on current lifestyle and development of support systems, and deeper relational work that develops self-awareness and facilitates emotional expression.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I lived and worked in a number of different countries as a teacher. These wider experiences support my therapeutic work through sensitivity to difference and cultural bias, and an understanding of the wider context in which each client is embedded. I am also a qualified yoga teacher and long term yoga practitioner with a deep understanding of embodiment. This is integral to my work as a practitioner in supporting clients to gain awareness of their embodiment and thus move towards healthier, more integrated functioning.
