About me
Dr. Andrew Iain MacKenzie, Consultant Dermatologist MBChB, MRCP (UK), MRCP (DERM)
About Me
I graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 2006 (MBChB); completed postgraduate General Medical training earning MRCP(UK) in 2010 and went onto complete my Specialist Dermatology training in Edinburgh, earning MRCP(Derm) in 2014. Over the past decade, I have worked as a Consultant Dermatologist in the NHS and Private sectors across Tayside, Lothian, and the Borders.
Philosophy
I am dedicated to providing safe, evidence-based and personalised care- with empathy and attention to detail. My approach integrates the latest innovations in Dermatology to meet each patient's unique needs.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, I treasure time spent with my amazing wife and our wonderful young children: embracing the joys of family life. I also find relaxation in leisurely walks with our dog.
For comprehensive, patient-focused Dermatology care, please don't hesitate to book an appointment (being happy to provide virtual consultations where clinically appropriate). I would be delighted to assist you with all your Dermatological concerns.
Areas of interest
My Specialist Interests
Whilst I practice the full spectrum of General Dermatology, my key areas of expertise include:
Dermatological Surgery: delivering a wide range of skin surgeries, including excisions, shaves, incisions, punch biopsies, curettage, electrodessication and cryosurgery- tailored to the specific clinical indication.
Skin lesion assessment and management: providing comprehensive evaluation and treatment of skin cancers and benign lumps, including moles, cysts, warts and skin tags.
Medical Dermatology: with extensive experience in the management of conditions such as acne, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis- including extensive experience in the use of advanced therapies such as Isotretinoin (Roaccutane), biologics and systemic treatments for severe disease.
