Dr Andrew Iain MacKenzie, Consultant Dermatologist

Dr Andrew Iain MacKenzie is a Consultant Dermatologist providing private Dermatology assessment and treatment in Scotland, with face-to-face consultations in Dundee and Peebles, and remote consultations where clinically appropriate.

He graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 2006, completed postgraduate General Medical training and membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2010, and went on to complete specialist Dermatology training in Edinburgh, obtaining MRCP(Derm) in 2014.

Dr MacKenzie is on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology and has more than a decade of consultant-level experience across NHS and private Dermatology practice in Scotland.

His clinical practice is centred on careful assessment, clear explanation and tailored treatment planning. His approach is calm, thorough and evidence-based, with an emphasis on helping patients understand their diagnosis and the options available to them.

Outside clinical practice, Dr MacKenzie enjoys spending time with his wife and young family and walking the family dog.

Areas of interest

Whilst I practise across General Dermatology, my principal areas of expertise include:

Dermatological Surgery: including excisions, shave procedures, punch biopsies, curettage, electrodesiccation and cryosurgery, where clinically appropriate.

Skin lesion assessment and management: assessment and management of suspected skin cancers and benign skin lesions, including moles, cysts, warts and skin tags.

Medical Dermatology: assessment and management of a broad range of medical Dermatology concerns, including acne, rosacea, eczema and psoriasis, as well as more persistent or treatment-resistant inflammatory skin disease. Oral isotretinoin/Roaccutane may be considered for acne where clinically appropriate.
