About me

Mr Connell has been a Consultant Gynaecologist in West Kent, since 2003. He qualified from Guys and St Thomas Hospitals in London. All of his training has been in London and the South East.

He undertook research using minimal access (laparoscopic: keyhole) surgery, part of which involved treating fibroids with low power lasers, and treating heavy periods.

He eft the NHS to become Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer at Benenden Hospital and the Benenden Society. He works at Benenden and KIMS Hospitals in Kent as a general gynaecologist and also specialises in urogynaecology [vaginal prolapse and incontinence]. He is a laparoscopic (key-hole) surgeon e.g. performing laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomies. He also works in Harley Street in London.

He is a keen innovator and was, for example, the first surgeon to perform a laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy the NHS at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals, as well as in the private sector, over 20 years ago. These new and innovating techniques are designed to reduce complications of treatment and improve outcomes.
