About me
Mr Connell has been a Consultant Gynaecologist in West Kent, since 2003. He qualified from Guys and St Thomas Hospitals in London. All of his training has been in London and the South East, with specialist training and research at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and at University College London Hospitals.
He undertook research using minimal access (laparoscopic: keyhole) surgery, part of which involved treating fibroids with low power lasers, and treating heavy periods.
He left the NHS to become Medical Director and the Chief Medical Officer at Benenden Hospital and the Benenden Society. His clinical work is now at Benenden and KIMS Hospitals in Kent and 25 Harley Street in London as a general gynaecologist specialising in urogynaecology [vaginal prolapse and incontinence]. He is also a laparoscopic (key-hole) surgeon treating endometriosis, pelvic pain, fibroids, scar tissue [adhesions] ovarian cysts and for example performing laparoscopic subtotal and total hysterectomies.
He is a keen innovator and was, for example, the first surgeon to perform a laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy the NHS at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Hospitals, as well as in the private sector, over 20 years ago. These new and innovating techniques are designed to reduce complications of treatment and improve outcomes.
