About me
I am a Consultant in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic medicine at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. After graduation in 2002, I received the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians diploma in 2006 and was elected as the Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2014.
My clinical interests are
- Cholesterol management (including statin intolerance and injectable cholesterol lowering treatment)
- Lipid disorders including inherited conditions affecting cholesterol like Familial Hypercholesterolaemia
- Cardiovascular risk assessment
- Management of cholesterol levels post heart attack, heart stents, coronary bypass procedures, peripheral arterial disease and stroke
- Lipoprotein(a) assessment and family history of high Lipoprotein (a)

I am the Clinical lead for the lipid clinic and Familial Hypercholesterolaemia services at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. I am a Clinical Supervisor and trainer in Chemical Pathology and metabolic medicine at Yorkshire and Humber deanery for post graduate doctors and committed to teaching and training medical and nursing staff in both primary care and secondary care (including GPs, PCN pharmacists, practice nurses, Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Specialist Nurses, cardiac rehabilitation specialist nurses).
My research interests are lipid disorders, lipid lowering treatments and Metabolic bone disorders. I am a principal investigator for multicentre cardiovascular outcome trials and metabolic bone treatment at the Trust since 2016.
As a Consultant with more than 10 years of clinical practice, I have consistent positive patient feedback in delivering safe, effective and timely clinical care for my patients. I was a finalist for the Outstanding Clinician category at Golden Hearts Awards 2018 at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS trust for contribution to the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Familial Hypercholesterolaemia service.
