About me

HHello, my name is Leanne Alston. I'm a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over ten years' experience working in NHS mental health services.
I support adults who are struggling with anxiety, excessive worry, low mood, stress, burnout, OCD and the impact of trauma. Many of the people I work with are those who have been managing a lot on their own, but have reached a point where things feel overwhelming or stuck.
My approach is practical, collaborative and evidence-based. Using CBT and EMDR, we work together to understand the patterns that may be keeping difficulties going, and develop realistic strategies to help you feel more steady, confident and in control again.
Alongside my core CBT training, I have additional experience supporting people living with long-term health conditions such as diabetes, chronic pain, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Therapy can be a helpful space to process the emotional impact of ongoing physical symptoms and find ways to live well alongside them.
I'm particularly interested in the idea of mental fitness: caring for our psychological wellbeing in the same way we care for our physical health. Where it's helpful, I often encourage small, sustainable changes such as movement, time outdoors and building routines that support resilience and recovery.
I also work with individuals around sport, motivation and confidence, including rebuilding mental strength after injury or periods away from activity.
Sessions are available online (MS Teams or telephone) or in person.
