About me

Mr Azhar Hussain is a consultant cardiac surgeon at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. He graduated with First Class Honours from Cambridge University and went on to complete his medical degree at Oxford University in 2013. He completed his higher surgical training in cardiothoracic surgery at the London Deanery after ranking first in the national selection process.

Azhar performs a full range of adult cardiac surgical procedures with a specialist interest in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. He spent two years during his training at Kings College Hospital learning techniques in minimally invasive mitral valve surgery and minimally invasive aortic valve replacements.

Azhar has over 30 peer reviewed publications and has presented his work at both national and international conferences.
