About me

Mr. Muhammad Tayyab is a consultant surgeon specialising in general and colorectal surgery. He practises at The Harborne Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic, both part of HCA Healthcare UK, and serves as the Lead in Colorectal Surgery at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. With a strong focus on minimally invasive colorectal cancer surgery, Mr. Tayyab has a proven track record of enhancing patient care in this field.
Previously, he was a consultant colorectal surgeon at Northwest Anglia NHS Trust for approximately five years, where he achieved outstanding results and took on leadership responsibilities. His expertise encompasses a wide range of conditions including rectal prolapse, haemorrhoids, anal fissures, fistula, and pilonidal sinus disease. He also performs major surgeries for bowel cancers, as well as benign conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and colo-vesical fistula.
Mr. Tayyab is a JAG-accredited endoscopist skilled in both upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopies, conducting a high volume of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. His proficiency extends to managing gallstone disease with keyhole surgeries for gallbladders and addressing abdominal wall and groin hernias through laparoscopic techniques.
He completed his postgraduate training in Yorkshire and obtained an MD from the University of Hull in 2015, focusing on rectal tumour volumes on MRI scans and their correlation with oncological outcomes. His higher surgical training included a robotic fellowship as an international fellow in Lisbon, Portugal. Mr. Tayyab has made significant contributions to the field through publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international seminars, reflecting his dedication to advancing surgical care and improving patient outcomes.
