About me

I am a Consultant Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Liver Transplant Surgeon based in Birmingham and an Honorary Clinical Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham.

I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2001 following which I completed Basic Surgical Training at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, before moving to the West Midlands to undertake Higher/Specialist Surgical Training. During Higher Surgical Training I was awarded a MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship and undertook a period of laboratory based research culminating in the award of a PhD at the University of Birmingham.

On completion of specialist training I undertook post CCT fellowships in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, and in Hepatobiliary, Pancreatic and Liver Transplant Surgery at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where I was appointed as a consultant in 2019.

I currently undertake NHS work at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham with Private Practice at The Priory Hospital and The Harborne Hospital. My practice includes all types of surgery for benign and malignant liver, biliary and pancreatic disease, Including both open and laparoscopic procedures, as well as liver transplantation. I have a particular interest in surgery for hilar cholangiocarcinoma and pancreatic cancer as well as machine perfusion of donor liver grafts.
