About me

My name is Anna Selassie and I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and EMDR therapist based in Leeds. I offer CBT and EMDR therapy online across the UK and face to face in Leeds. I work with adults and teenagers, and I offer therapy in both English and Polish.

I have over 16 years' experience working in mental health across NHS and private practice settings, and over 12 years' experience as a qualified CBT therapist. Alongside my private practice, Reflection Clinic, I currently work within the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service.

I support people who are struggling with anxiety, trauma, intrusive thoughts, OCD, panic, phobias, low mood, low self-esteem, perfectionism, body image difficulties, disordered eating, work stress, long-term health conditions and difficult life transitions. I also work with teenagers experiencing anxiety, phobias, low mood, OCD, trauma, school-related stress or difficulties with confidence.

I have a particular specialist interest in birth trauma, PTSD, fear of childbirth, perinatal anxiety and OCD, pregnancy loss, reproductive trauma, medical trauma and traumatic healthcare experiences. I previously led an NHS pilot project in Leeds supporting women experiencing severe fear of childbirth and post-traumatic stress following traumatic births, which contributed to the development of the regional Maternal Mental Health Service.

My approach is warm, compassionate, practical and evidence-based. I aim to help you understand what is keeping the problem going, develop a clear treatment plan, and learn tools that feel useful in everyday life. Therapy with me is active and collaborative, with space to talk things through as well as work towards meaningful change.

I use CBT, trauma-focused CBT, EMDR, exposure and response prevention, mindfulness-based CBT, compassion-focused approaches and motivational interviewing, depending on your needs and goals.

Online therapy can be a flexible option if you are balancing work, parenting, pregnancy, health appointments, childcare or school commitments.
