About me

**I see clients throughout the UK via remote video appointment, and in person at my clinic in Manchester. I am currently accepting new clients.**

WELCOME

Nice to meet you and thank you for stopping to look at my profile. I hope that you find the information about me and my practice helpful, and that you will consider seeking support from me.

ABOUT ME

Im Charlotte, a Psychotherapist specialising in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and EMDR (Eye Movement & Desensitisation Reprocessing) therapy, with a background in Mental Health Nursing. I am also currently completing further training in Executive Function Coaching.

I have over 12 years experience working within Mental Health, as a Psychotherapist and Mental Health Nurse. During this time, I have worked with a wide range of people, delivering therapy that is trauma-informed, and holistic to each client. This includes making neurodiverse affirming adaptations for clients who identify as ADHD, AuDHD or ASC.

WHAT IS MY APPROACH?

My approach to therapy is uniquely tailored to every client, and the circumstances that have led them to seek support. In therapy, I will check in with you regularly to make sure you feel heard, that I fully understand the problem, and that my approach feels safe and supportive.

HOW MANY SESSIONS?

Typically, I work with people for 14 - 20 sessions. However, sometimes this maybe slightly longer, or shorter, depending on the problem or the therapeutic approach needed.

I tend to work within three stages of therapy; an assessment stage, treatment stage and an endings stage.

Assessment Stage: We will explore your current difficulties in relation to your life story, forming a collaborative understanding of these experiences. Many people report experiencing symptom relief during this stage, as they feel listened to, and begin to have a deeper understanding of the difficulties they are experiencing.

Treatment Stage: Together we will work on the issue you are struggling with, so that you can reconnect with what you value, and start to see positive changes in your life. Depending on the type of therapy and the presenting issue, this stage will look different for everyone. However, some examples could include reconnecting with others, exploring relationship or communication issues, processing trauma memories, working to relieve symptoms of anxiety or depression

Endings Stage: When you feel ready to end therapy, we will start the process of ending sessions; this could include exploring any anxiety about finishing therapy; relapse prevention, identifying and planning for any future goals or challenges.

ARE WE A GOOD FIT?

Having a good rapport with your therapist, feeling safe, connected and understood during sessions, contributes greatly to the overall experience and success of therapy.

For this reason, I offer all new clients a free 30 minute initial consultation. This is to see how being together in the therapeutic space feels, and will allow us to think about if we could work well together.

WHAT IS A FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION APPOINTMENT?

This first meeting is a no cost consultation, which does not come out of your approved BUPA sessions. These meetings generally last for around 30 minutes, and will allow us to make sure that were the right fit, and that my therapeutic approach would be helpful for you.

NEXT STEPS?

If you would like to arrange a Free 30 minute Initial Consultation. Please email me at charlotte@charlottekimbley.com with your availability, and I will suggest a time to meet for a phone or video call. My working days are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9-5pm, and I aim to respond within 2 working days.
