About me
My name is Milton and I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my practice is underpinned by the BACP Ethical Framework. I have over 10 years of experience and worked as a therapist in the NHS and in a leading LGBTQ+ organisation.
I have a MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy informed in the Person-Centred Approach (PCA). In addition, I completed the evidence-based Counselling for Depression training (CfD) which is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) as a talking therapy for people with depression. This well researched therapy is widely used in the NHS.
I am also qualified in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). With IPT I offer a time-limited and structured psychotherapy for Moderate to Severe Depression. During our IPT work we focus on difficulties in relating to others and helping you to identify how you are feeling and behaving relationships. I will support you to interact more effectively. IPT can be helpful when the depression is triggered by one of the following difficulties:
 Conflict with another person
 Life changes
 Grief and Loss
Difficulty in starting or keeping relationships going
I work in a way that offers warmth, empathy and integrity, believing that the therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor is paramount to the counselling process. I provide a respectful, supportive relationship that encourages and nurtures personal growth. You will be accepted as yourself and can express your true thoughts and emotions without judgement.
My counselling sessions are tailored to meet the needs of each individual client. I draw upon a range of techniques and approaches to support you. It is important that we explore your thoughts and emotions in a way that works for you. I will always seek your consent and collaboration in discovering what works best for you.
I have a special interest in supporting female and male survivors of abuse (including emotional, physical and sexual abuse). In addition, I have worked extensively with anxiety, depression, gender difficulties, sexuality, bereavement, relationship difficulties, chemsex, drug and alcohol misuse. If you have experienced any of the above difficulties, please don't suffer alone. I have supported many individuals and I will be happy to support you.
