About me
I am a counselling psychologist and work with adults who are looking to address their low mood, anxiety, guilt, resentment or anger, move past unhelpful ways of being, increase their self-compassion, develop more authentic relationships, and connect with their agency to make positive changes in their lives.
I have significant experience working with people with difficult family relationships, including adult children of alcoholics as well as people with history of family conflict and abuse. I am particularly interested in helping people find out what it means to consider their own wellbeing while also being supportive to others, identify their own needs and wants, and find their voice in present day relationships.
I completed a PhD in Counselling Psychology in the United States in 2014 and I have worked as a therapist with adults and young people from various cultural and religious backgrounds with a wide range of presenting concerns. In the UK I have worked in NHS community mental health services, service for female survivors of abuse, a university counselling service, and in collaboration with physiotherapists and other wellbeing professionals. I have worked in private practice alongside these roles since 2016 and at present I have a few slots available to clients across the UK for online sessions.
Areas of interest
Anxiety; depression; trauma; abuse; stress; family and relationship problems.
