About me
Osama is currently working as an Upper GI and General surgeon at West Herts. He studied medicine initially back in the Middle East and moved to the United Kingdom for Basic and Higher Surgical Training. He worked in numerous centres around the nation, including Liverpool, Newcastle, and Scotland, before settling in North West London and experienced working at Imperial College, Chelsea and Westminster, the Royal Marsden and University College London Hospitals, giving him a huge breadth of clinical experience. Osama also completed a Royal College-approved fellowship in Laparoscopic, Anti-Reflux and Bariatrics.
Mr Osama Moussa is a Consultant General Surgeon specialising in laparoscopic, robotic, and benign upper gastrointestinal surgery. He is currently based at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, where he delivers advanced surgical care across a range of upper GI and general procedures, including anti-reflux and metabolic surgery. Mr Moussa is a pioneer in his field, having established and currently leading the successful Robotic Upper GI Practice at West Hertfordshire, which consistently achieves excellent patient outcomes. He single-handedly developed a dedicated Multidisciplinary Anti-Reflux Service to provide expert, comprehensive care for patients with complex hiatal hernia and severe reflux. Mr Moussa is recognised as one of the highest-volume surgeons performing these technically demanding procedures.
He has held clinical appointments at several major UK institutions, including Imperial College London, the Royal Marsden, University College London, and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals. Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Moussa actively contributes to academic research, particularly focusing on metabolic health and obesity-related outcomes. Through his blend of surgical expertise, academic engagement, and evidence-based practice, Mr Moussa continues to advance innovation and excellence within benign upper gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery.
