About me

I am a Consultant Cardiologist, specialising in cardiac imaging. I am currently working at the at the Spire Murrayfield Hospital.

I am bilingual and I offer cardiac consultations in both English and Polish.

In my daily practice, I deal with all aspects of general cardiology, including common cardiac symptoms such as breathlessness, leg swelling, chest pains, palpitations, blackouts, and common cardiac conditions such as hypertension, angina, stable coronary artery disease, heart attacks, arrhythmias, heart failure and valvular abnormalities. Through my specialist interest in cardiac imaging, I also have extensive expertise in rarer heart problems such as a variety of inherited cardiomyopathies (hypertrophic, dilated, arrhythmogenic etc).

I specialise in all types of heart imaging techniques. Non-invasive cardiac imaging forms the cornerstone of cardiac diagnostic process. I offer extensive expertise in transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography (ultrasound scan of the heart allowing for structural and functional cardiac assessment), stress echocardiography (stress ultrasound test used to assess cardiac performance under duress), cardiac computed tomography (most frequently used to diagnose coronary artery disease) and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (gold standard cardiac assessment allowing for functional and structural assessment, myocardial scar detection and ischaemia testing). I also offer more basic cardiac tests such as ECG and exercise tolerance tests.

I hold a variety of internationally recognised imaging accreditations including transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography accreditation (British Society of Echocardiography), cardiac computed tomography accreditation (Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography) and cardiac magnetic resonance accreditation (Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance).

I studied medicine at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland and at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. I underwent my general medical and cardiology training in the North West of England. I completed a four year long PhD programme in cardiac imaging at the University of Manchester and a 3 months long cardiac imaging fellowship at the internationally renowned Brompton Hospital in London.

I have an extensive research acumen including twenty articles in peer reviewed journals, nineteen abstracts, sixteen poster presentations and nine oral presentations. I was a recipient of numerous awards including the Clinical Pump-Priming Award, Clinical Research Training Fellowship Grant (BHF) and Clinical Early Career Award (SCMR).

I enjoy spending my spare time with my wife and our two daughters. Since both of my daughters are young, the amount of spare time I actually have is very limited! I love reading fantasy and science fiction books. My all-time favourites are Dune by F Herbert, Lord of the Rings by J RR Tolkien and Witcher by A Sapkowski. I regularly jog and use my stationary bike to keep fit.
