About me
Dr Hayley Smith is a consultant dermatologist with a special interest in melanoma, acne and cosmetic dermatology. She graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2012 and completed postgraduate training in Yorkshire. Here she gained experience in mole assessment, skin cancer/surgery, acne, paediatric dermatology, psoriasis, connective tissue disease, leg ulceration, photobiology, cutaneous allergy, vulval dermatology, hair disorders and general dermatology.
Dr Smith has a substantive post at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust where she runs specialist mole and melanoma clinics, managing the most complex and high-risk cases across the region. This includes adults and children with multiple atypical moles, and/or a family history of melanoma. She offers an in-depth mole-checking service, identifying individual risk factors, and delivering patient-focused treatments, including surgical interventions for skin cancer and benign lesions.
Dr Smith has a postgraduate diploma in skin ageing and aesthetic medicine, with expertise in personalised prescription-grade skin care. She also has a BSc in psychology, giving her a profound understanding of both the physical and psychological implications of skin disease. She continues to collaborate on international research, considering the impact of acne. She is widely published in the fields of skin cancer and acne and has presented both Nationally and Internationally, winning multiple prizes for work presented.
