About me
I am a cognitive behavioural therapist, accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). I have a master's degree in clinical psychology, with 10+ years clinical and supervisory experience in both NHS and private settings. Since 2018 I have been working as a senior practitioner in NHS talking therapies services, alongside my private practice. I'm a family man. I'm a dad of 3 young kids, who keep me on my toes. I'm the wrong side of 30 and like playing golf, family time, drinks with friends, and watching sport.
I work with individuals and couples experiencing psychological distress, in person or via video call. I will use CBT principles and disorder specific protocols to help you see the connection between your thinking and how you feel, and how this affects what you do (and vice versa). During your treatment we will identify 'vicious cycles' that are operating to maintain the problem, then formulate your difficulties, explore their origins, identify goals, and develop an individualised treatment plan to realise these. We will work collaboratively to better understand the patterns of thinking and behaving that are inadvertently leading to distress, ultimately modifying these to reduce unwanted symptoms. The eventual goal of CBT is to equip you with the knowledge and skillset necessary to self-regulate and manage your mental health, without the need for therapy, as you become your own therapist.
