About me

I am a Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensive Care specialist based at the Royal Derby Hospital. I provide anaesthetic care for a wide range of surgical procedures, with a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and overall experience.
I am also a Bupa Platinum Consultant and Associate Clinical Director in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, working across Derby and the East Midlands.

I understand that having surgery can feel worrying, so I make it a priority to keep patients informed, reassured, and comfortable throughout their journey. I take time to explain anaesthetic options in plain language and involve you in decisions about your care.
I create personalised anaesthetic plans based on your medical history, the type of procedure, and your individual needs. My aim is to make your experience as safe, smooth, and stress?free as possiblefrom your pre-operative assessment through to recovery.
Patients often comment on my calm and reassuring manner, and I work closely with surgical and nursing teams to ensure joined?up, high-quality care.

My work includes:

General anaesthesia
Regional anaesthesia (including nerve blocks)
Sedation for minor and day-case procedures
Care of patients undergoing both routine and complex surgery
Supporting recovery and managing pain after surgery

I also specialise in intensive care medicine, caring for patients who require close monitoring and advanced support.

A thorough and careful pre-operative assessment
A clear explanation of your anaesthetic and what to expect
A personalised care plan tailored to you
Focus on comfort, safety, and a smooth recovery

My goal is to help you feel relaxed, confident, and well cared for at every stage of your treatment.

Areas of interest

Intensive Care Medicine (ICM): Managing critically ill patients, multisystem organ support, and complex critical care pathways.

General Anaesthesia: Formulating custom sedation and general anaesthetic strategies for various major elective and emergency surgical procedures.

Perioperative Patient Safety: Tailoring anaesthetic delivery to a patient's precise medical background to minimize risk and optimize post-operative recovery timelines
