About me
Mr Paolo Consigliere is a fellowship trained Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special focus on disorders of the shoulder and elbow. He is well-versed in advanced minimally invasive keyhole techniques and open joint replacement surgery, as well as trauma. Mr Consigliere is deeply committed to providing comprehensive care to patients suffering from various shoulder and elbow conditions.
Mr Consigliere completed his medical degree at the University of Pavia, Italy in 2009 and trained in trauma and orthopaedics in Milan, Italy. He moved to the UK in 2013 and soon after relocating, he completed two upper limb fellowships: one at the prestigious Rowley Brisow Unit, Ashford ann St Peter's Hospitals NHS FT, Chertsey UK and one at the Reading Shoulder Unit, Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS FT, Reading UK, international centre of excellence. He then expanded his knowledge and increased his surgical experience completing a complex trauma and limb reconstruction fellowship at St George's University Hospital NHS FT, one of the four major trauma centres in London. Mr Consigliere was appointed as a Consultant in 2019 and now works at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS FT, Kent UK.
Mr Consigliere holds an academic appointment as a Lecturer at Kent and Medway Medical School, where he is actively involved in the education and supervision of undergraduate medical students. He particularly enjoys supporting students taking their first steps into clinical research, fostering curiosity and promoting the principles of evidence-based medicine. His commitment to advancing knowledge in orthopaedic surgery is reflected in his ongoing research activity and continued contributions to the scientific literature.
With a track record of more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals, Mr Consigliere has made significant contributions to the fields of upper limb and trauma surgery. He has also co-authored several book chapters, further establishing his expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery. His dedication to education extends beyond medical students, with his involvement as faculty for advanced training courses in shoulder and elbow arthroplasty and arthroscopic surgery, where he shares his expertise with surgeons in training and fellow specialists.
Mr Consigliere holds professional memberships with the AO Trauma Society, British Elbow and Shoulder Society and the European Society for Surgery to the Shoulder and Elbow.
