About me

Mr N. Chatzizacharias is a Consultant HPB (Liver, pancreas and biliary tree) Surgeon in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. He graduated from the University of Athens, Greece, medical school and holds a PhD from the same institution on pancreatic cancer. He trained in HPB and Transplant Surgery in Cambridge, UK and subsequently in HPB Surgery in the Medical College of Wisconsin, USA. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and of the American College of Surgeons. He has authored a number of peer reviewed publications and has numerous presentations in national and international meetings.
His clinical expertise includes treatment of all conditions of the liver, pancreas and biliary tract, benign and malignant. He performs open and minimal invasive surgical procedures (trained both in laparoscopic and robotic surgery). His area of specialist interest is the management of locally advanced pancreatic cancer. Since his appointment as a Consultant Surgeon in Queen Elizabeth Hospital he has developed and is leading the locally advanced pancreatic cancer programme which is the largest in the UK and one of the largest in the world.
