About me
I am a Consultant Otolaryngologist (ENT Surgeon) and Head and Neck Surgeon at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. My specialist areas of practice include head and neck oncological surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, and salivary gland surgery. I lead the multidisciplinary thyroid cancer team across Derby and Burton and am also a member of the multidisciplinary head and neck cancer team that provides specialist oncology services for patients throughout Derbyshire.
I graduated from the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 2001. After completing my specialist training in Otolaryngology�Head and Neck Surgery, I undertook advanced fellowships in head and neck oncology and thyroid surgery in both the United Kingdom and France, allowing me to develop expertise in the surgical management of complex benign and malignant head and neck conditions.
Alongside my clinical practice, I have a strong interest in medical education and training. I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education at the University of Nottingham and am currently the Undergraduate Lead for ENT at Derby Hospital Medical School, where I support and teach medical students as they develop their clinical knowledge and skills.
Areas of interest
Among my areas of expertise are head and neck oncology, thyroid and parathyroid
surgery, and salivary gland surgery.
A number of articles have been published by Mr. Nijim in peer-reviewed medical
journals. Currently, he acts as the principal investigator for the HoT Trial, a national
research project on thyroid cancer.
