About me
Mr Rishi Shukla is a Consultant ENT/Head and neck & Thyroid surgeon based at Buckinghamshire Health NHS Trust. He studied medicine at King's College London. He underwent higher surgical training in Otolaryngology and Head and neck surgery on the Oxford rotation at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals.
He also gained a Bachelor of Science at King's College London in Medical biochemistry during his training. Mr Shukla completed his advanced fellowship in head and neck surgery at the world-renowned Charing Cross Hospital. Furthermore, he continues to broaden his experience with visitations to centres of excellence for head and neck surgery.
Areas of interest
Mr Shukla has been pioneering approaches to drainless neck surgery in the UK with advancements towards promoting safer day case surgery. He believes that the best outcomes for patients can only be achieved with careful clinical selection, planning and ensuring complex decisions are carefully considered and ratified within the framework of a multidisciplinary team.
He is actively involved in teaching other doctors, nurses and allied health professionals and has published in peer-reviewed medical journals and spoken at international professional congresses involved in thyroid and head and neck surgery. He has presented at national and international surgical conferences.
Mr Shukla is one of the few surgeons in the UK to perform day case drainless salivary gland and hemi-thyroid surgery. He has continually been developing this area and his NHS practice routinely offers this service. He believes that innovation and skill is vital to progress.
