About me

Mr Breck Lord is an internationally fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in disorders of the knee. With advanced subspecialty expertise in ligament reconstruction, joint preservation and knee arthroplasty, he is widely recognised for combining academic rigour with high-level clinical practice.

He is a Faculty Member of the European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA), where he trains consultant surgeons in contemporary techniques for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. His academic contribution to knee surgery is further reflected in his PhD in knee reconstruction from Imperial College London, alongside extensive peer-reviewed publications and authorship of book chapters in leading orthopaedic texts.

Mr Lord's clinical focus encompasses complex sports knee injuries, including ACL rupture, posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries, and multi-ligament knee reconstruction. He also performs advanced joint preservation procedures such as meniscal repair, cartilage restoration surgery and corrective osteotomy.
For patients with degenerative knee arthritis, he offers evidence-based partial and total knee replacement surgery.

His surgical training is distinguished by international fellowships at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre and OrthoSport Victoria, as well as knee replacement fellowships at St George's University Hospital and the South-West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre. He also completed trauma surgery fellowship training at the Royal Berkshire Hospital Major Trauma Unit.

Within the NHS, Mr Lord serves as Trust Lead for Trauma Surgery and has received formal commendations for quality improvement initiatives and multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance patient care standards.

Educated at the University of Cambridge (MA) and University College London (MBBS), he holds the FRCS (Tr&Orth) and remains deeply involved in surgical education, having taught at Oxford, Southampton, Notre Dame (Australia), Sydney and Melbourne Universities. He is also Principal Investigator for two national multi-centre clinical trials.
