About me

Professor Richard Gibbs is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon specialising in the endovascular and open surgical treatment of arterial and venous vascular disease. His postgraduate training was undertaken at St Barts, Charing Cross and St Mary's Hospitals in London, and his current NHS practice is at Imperial College NHS Trust where he is Clinical Director for General & Vascular Surgery. He has extensive clinical experience in treating all aspects of vascular disease, and a specific clinical and research interest in aortic disease. He has published extensively and lectured internationally on aortic aneurysms and dissections. He works closely in a team with colleagues from interventional radiology and cardiac surgery to treat complex aortic aneurysms, and set up and runs the only UK multidisciplinary Type B aortic dissection clinic. Professor Gibbs has sat on council for the British Society for Endovascular Therapy and Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
