About me

Dr Julien Edwards - Senior Clinical Psychologist

Professional Experience

Julien is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years post-qualifying Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service ('CAMHS') NHS experience working across inpatient and community settings in North London and has subsequently worked in private practice. He has undertaken further specialist training in ACT, DBT, NVR and Autism Assessment tools, amongst other trainings.

Throughout his career he has developed expertise working with children and young people and their families/carers, including those with Autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD. He provides support to parents where there may be a variety of challenges at home including, but not limited to, child-to-parent aggression & abuse and/or significant sibling conflict. He is committed to helping people make meaningful changes in their lives through effective psychological therapy and he works with a broad range of ages and complex presentations.

Personal Approach

I am a husband and father to three children, two cats and an old dog and my key values in life are kindness and compassion and helping people.

I work directly with children and young people from around the age of 7/8 up to young adults in their early twenties. I also conduct autism assessments for the same age range. Although as psychologists we are multi-skilled and experts in mental health, I am all about working with kindness and compassion, so that young people feel safe, understood and validated. It's hard to ask for help and takes real bravery to do so.

When I first meet with children and young people, and/or their parents or carers, we jointly evaluate together what they may be struggling with and I help to provide clarity; we then develop goals together and collaboratively devise a treatment plan and approach whether delivered by me or another clinician. Above all, it is so important to think about what is the life that the person or family would ideally like to lead and how to get there.
