About me
Miles was born and grew up in North London, where he continues to live with his family. He set up and runs a busy NHS oculoplastics service at North Middlesex University Hospital, which complements his private practice, based at The London Clinic on Harley Street.
He is a triple fellowship trained consultant ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon and has subspecialty expertise in ophthalmic cosmetic, reconstructive, and lacrimal (tear drainage) surgery. He also specialises in small incision cataract surgery and pterygium surgery.
Miles earned his medical degree and a Masters in research from the University of Manchester, graduating in 2010. He went on to obtain a Masters in the Biology of Vision from University College London in 2013.
He completed his ophthalmology training in the prestigious North London Deanery, spending five years at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital. He completed three oculoplastic fellowships, including two at Moorfields, and has been trained by leaders in the fields of oculoplastic and cataract surgery.
He has extensive emergency ophthalmology experience having worked as a locum consultant in the Accident and Emergency department at Moorfields from 2020 to 2022, and is the clinical lead for emergency ophthalmology at North Middlesex University Hospital.
As an honorary clinical lecturer at UCL, and assistant professor at St George's University, Miles is keenly involved in training the next generation of ophthalmologists. He has published in the Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine, and has presented research nationally and internationally. He is a full member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Outside of work Miles is a keen rock climber and carpenter. He spends much of his free time at the workshop or on his allotment. Miles speaks Spanish fluently, having obtained the diploma de espaol como lengua extranjera (DELE) in 2006, and is actively engaged in charity ophthalmology work, specifically teaching and training in resource poor settings.
