About me

Hello, my name is Joanne, and I'm a fully qualified, BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist based in Liverpool (L26), working with Think CBT.
For over 16 years, I've had the privilege of supporting individuals facing challenges with their mental health and emotional wellbeing. Through my training and experience, I've developed a range of evidence-based tools to help people find relief from emotional distress and navigate life's difficulties with greater resilience.
My approach is always person-centred. I believe each individual is unique, so I tailor therapy to meet your specific needs, drawing on an integrative approach to offer the most effective support. In addition to CBT, I am a fully qualified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) therapist, trained by an accredited European provider. I work with children (age 8 upwards) and adults.
I specialise in supporting individuals who present with diagnosed (and undiagnosed) Neurodiversity (ADHD/ADD/AUDHD etc), OCD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, anxiety disorders (GAD, panic disorder, social anxiety, phobia (blood, needle, vomit, aeroplane etc), health anxiety, separation anxiety), sleep problems and insomnia.
I also offer treatment for behavioural and lifestyle changes such as, anger management, perfectionism, procrastination, low self-worth, assertiveness training, emotional regulation/ somatic therapy techniques (to include mindfulness and meditation) and stress management.
I also incorporate elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my work, ensuring therapy is flexible and responsive to what works best for you.
Reaching out for help can feel overwhelming, but please don't let that stop you from taking the first step. It's often the hardest part and the most important one.
I work in line with the ethical standards set by the BABCP and hold full professional indemnity insurance to practise in the UK.
If you'd like to book an appointment, please contact me. I'll give you a call beforehand to discuss what you're looking for and how we can work together, before confirming your first session.
